Coach Kyle started coaching swimming in 2007 in Indiana where he grew up around South Bend. Kyle has coached swim clubs in Indiana, Michigan and now Illinois with Highland Park Aquatic Club. He brings with him knowledge and experience of coaching at all levels of swimming. From learn-to-swim lessons, newly competitive swimmers, state level swimmers, and swimmers at the National level.
From the age of 6, Kyle has had a long history in the sport of swimming. Growing up swimming for the Michiana Marlins he won several state titles in Age Group and Senior swimming for the IM and Backstroke events. He swam for Penn High School where he was a State Finalist all four years. After high school he went on to swim at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. There he swam the 400 IM, 200 IM, and 200 Backstroke.
Today Coach Kyle takes pride in building great people out of the sport of swimming. Swimming is a unique experience where you get to build a sense of team as well as self. Learning to excel at both is what he looks for when mentoring young athletes..
Coach Kyle is our Head Age Group Coach.
Callan Heidkamp
Head Senior Coach
callan@hpacswim.org
Coach Callan has been immersed in the sport nearly his entire life. A native of St. Charles, IL, he began swimming at age eight and continued through high school and into college. It was there that he found a love for coaching and began his coaching career in 2007. Over the past 19 years, he has coached in Illinois and Washington D.C., working with athletes at every level—from developmental swimmers to senior national qualifiers. His experience includes coaching multiple state champions, Illinois record holders, junior national qualifiers, and even future Olympic gold medalist Olivia Smoliga during his time with Glenview Titans Aquatic Club (GTAC).
Callan’s coaching journey has taken him from GTAC, to The FISH in Washington, D.C., and most recently to Glenbrook Swim Club, where he served as Head Team and Head Senior Coach.
Throughout the hiring process, Coach Callan stood out for his genuine passion for being on deck and working directly with athletes. He strives to coach, mentor, and build meaningful relationships with swimmers. His leadership style emphasizes humility, collaboration, partnership with families, and alignment among coaches—a team‑first mindset that fits seamlessly with HPAC’s values.
Outside the pool, Callan enjoys cheering on his favorite team, the Tottenham Hotspur, attending horse events with his wife Lara, and spending time with their Miniature Schnauzer, Shawn.

My name is Matt Nolan. I am originally from Washington, D.C., and moved to Chicago in 2023. I have loved swimming for my whole life. I began swimming competitively when I was five and never turned back. I swam for the DC Wave Swim Team as my USA Swimming Team, The PG Pool Killers Whales as my summer league team, and the School Without Walls Penguins as my high school team. I loved each of these programs, and my coaches there have shaped the coach I am today. I swan on the University of Pittsburgh club team my freshman year of college but switched to the spirit program, where I was a mascot and cheerleader for the rest of my time at Pitt. After spending some time in Pittsburg, I moved to Chicago to complete my Master's in Sports Administration at Northwestern.
I have been a coach at HPAC since 2023, and I coach the Little and Mini Giants. My goal is for every kid to be the best swimmer they can be while having as much fun as possible. My favorite events were distance freestyle and IM events, and I am a big believer that everyone is a distance swimmer at heart :)

Meet Coach Nicole, From Hoboken, New Jersey! With a love for swimming that started at age 8 (2006), She competed through college specializing in backstroke (best events being the 200 and 100 back). At 18 she moved to Chicago and swam varsity at Northwestern University from 2016 - 2020, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2019. As a senior, she earned her first Division 1 NCAA qualification, but unfortunately, the competition was canceled due to the pandemic.
Starting her coaching career in the spring of 2024, she's excited to be back involved in the sport that shaped her into who she is today. She loves the sport of swimming for the team camaraderie and the thrill of seeing the swimmers go a best time in a race. You'll find her cheering very loudly for her swimmers and is excited to see some fast racing from HPAC at future meets.
