Volunteer Positions

Lane Timer ~ Stopwatch Hero: Stand behind a lane and run (start/stop) a stopwatch on every swimmer's race in that lane. The fundamental backbone of the meet, no timers, no meet. Timer must engage stopwatch when the starter light goes off, and then engage both the touchpad plunger & stopwatch when the swimmer touches the pad at the finish. The plunger will act as a backup to the swimmer's finish. The time on the stopwatch is the backup for the touchpad & plunger. Timers will then record the times next to the swimmer's heat/name from the stop watch and give it to the runner at the end of the heat or event.

Runner ~ Deck Courier: Collect timer sheets between heats or events based on the admin preference and shuttle them to the scoring table. This is the position with the most moving around, light steps, lots of laps.

Deck Safety Marshal ~ Pool Deck Overseer:  Patrol the deck on both ends of the pool & keep walkways clear when the official is starting the race, enforce no-running, and watch for hazards. Friendly enforcer energy & be sure to have a volunteer badge or shirt on.

Meet Announcer ~ Voice of HPAC Meets: Call heats to the blocks, read results, share announcements on concessions or sponsors, and keep the crowd energized between events.

Awards Coordinator ~ Medal Wrangler: Sort, label, and organize ribbons and medals as results come in. Prepare event top finisher medals for officials to hand out at the awards ceremony.

Athlete Hall Monitor ~ Hallway Hero: Keep an eye on high school main hallways both the 1st and 2nd floors of the pool area & stands. Enforce that swimmers are wearing clothes in the hallways and parents know where to go to cheer on their kids: the stands.

Coach & Official Hospitality ~ Meet Day Chef: Plan, set up, and restock the hospitality room for coaches and officials throughout the session. Upkeep meals for each session, fresh coffee, drinks, snacks, etc. The role that keeps the people running the meet fed, caffeinated, and happy.

Concessions Crew ~ Snack Bar Slinger: Sell snacks, drinks, and meal items to spectators and families. Cash handling, smiles, and the occasional drink restock. Role includes Setting up the concessions area with tables, fridges & coffee makers.

Timing System Operator ~Colorado Console Captain: Run the Colorado Timing System console at the admin table. Start every heat, changing the scoreboard to the next heat or event and working with the admin official on duty. A technical necessity to ensure an efficient & accurate meet.

End-of-Day Clean-Up Crew ~ Deck Reset Team: Stay 30–60 minutes after the last heat to clean up concessions, hospitality, pack timing equipment, take out trash, and reset the facility. Sunday will be the longer session to ensure the pool deck is clean and reset for the high school.
